The cultural symbol of the dog

Competing for throne, cats and dogs enmity-the myths and legends of dogs

Legend has it that when the Jade Emperor ordered twelve animals to be the zodiac signs, the animals all wanted to be the zodiac signs and were named gods. Animals try their best to show their own advantages, trying to prove to the Jade Emperor that they are powerful assistants to humans. Not only that, animals also want to rank themselves first, so they are all arguing about who contributes more to people.

Cats and dogs have a very close relationship with humans. Cats think that dogs eat too much, and they just lie at the door all day long, making no contribution. The dog thinks that the cat only eats good food all day long and doesn't do anything. It is just chanting to scare the mouse and it doesn't make much contribution. They quarreled endlessly, so they went to Jade Emperor together to judge.

The Jade Emperor asked the dog: "How much do you eat at one meal?" The dog answered honestly: "I watch the gate every day and eat one pot at one meal." The Jade Emperor asked the cat again: "How much do you eat at one meal?" Mao Lingji When he moved, he said, "I can recite the scriptures, catch mice, and one lamp per meal is enough." In fact, cats only eat good things, not just one lamp. The cat just wanted to cleverly tell the Jade Emperor that he would be self-reliant and catch mice to eat, so his contribution would be greater than that of the dog.

After hearing the words of dogs and cats, the Jade Emperor concluded that cats eat less and do more and contribute more than dogs. As soon as the dog heard it, he was very angry, and felt that the cat had defeated him with a dishonorable lie, so he cursed and bit the cat at the same time. The cat knew it was wrong, so he ran all the way, didn't dare to show up when he got home, hid in Tibet, and didn't dare to come out.

Taking advantage of the opportunity for the cat to avoid it, the dog hurriedly went to the Tiangong with the chicken to line up as the sign of the zodiac. The chickens sprinted and ran in front of the dog. The cat hiding in the dark hasn't seen the shadow of the dog for a long time, and only after he came out did he realize that the dog was queuing first as a sign. It quickly ran to the palace and lined up behind the pig, but the little mouse played a trick and hid in the horns and became the sign of the zodiac. As a result, the cat had no relationship with the zodiac. From then on, the cat hated the mouse, and killed the mouse when he saw it. Although cats are not regarded as zodiac signs, honest dogs never forgive cats and chase cats when they see them. This is still the case today.

In real life, dogs are the closest friends of mankind. Since the ancient fishing and hunting era, humans have domesticated dogs to serve themselves, catch prey, guard their homes, guard farmland, graze and patrol mountains for people to watch. A dog is not only the closest partner of mankind, but also the most loyal partner of mankind. Under no circumstances will a dog betray his master. Obviously, the dog has won the trust of mankind with his loyalty, and it is undisputed as a zodiac sign.

Dogs are a friend of humans who share weal and woe, and are considered to be human animals. They are particularly loyal to humans and therefore have the meaning of loyalty. Examples such as "Shepherd Dog Seeking Lord Three Thousand Miles" and "Savior of Righteous Dog" illustrate this point well. However, “dogs” have a derogatory meaning. “The lack of running dogs of the bereaved capitalists” described by Mr. Lu Xun symbolizes the shameless literati who have no national backbone. However, from the perspective of folklore, dog has some other meanings.
